ENJJPT Steering Committee Meets in Greece to Shape NATO Fighter Pilot Training’s Future

SHEPPARD AIR FORCE BASE, Texas — Delegates from 14 partner nations met in Kalamata, Greece, Sept. 21-25 for the Euro-NATO Joint Jet Pilot Training (ENJJPT) program’s Steering Committee, reaffirming their commitment to preparing the next generation of NATO fighter pilots.

The Steering Committee, which meets twice a year, brings together representatives from ENJJPT partner nations to assess training operations, establish priorities and guide the program’s continued development as a cornerstone of allied airpower.

“Steering Committee 92, my first as commander of the 80th Flying Training Wing, is an opportunity to look ahead and help shape ENJJPT’s next chapter,” said Col. Christopher Mulder, 80th Flying Training Wing commander.

“The new ENJJPT Wing strategy, ENJJPT Plus, is not a radical change to the program. It is an opportunity to improve the program and seize new opportunities as they emerge. By strengthening our standards, addressing resource challenges and building on the capabilities of our multinational team, we will ensure ENJJPT continues to evolve and prepare the highly capable NATO fighter pilots needed for the future.”

As ENJJPT adapts to an evolving operational environment, program leaders remain focused on sustaining training excellence while positioning the program to meet future requirements.

19th Air Force Commander Maj. Gen. Travolis A. Simmons delivered opening remarks and reiterated the program’s importance.

The committee also recognized Belgian Air Force Brig. Gen. Patrick Goossens for his service as outgoing Steering Committee chair and welcomed Royal Norwegian Air Force Brig. Gen. Kenneth Øvland as the incoming chair.

The next Steering Committee will convene in March 2027.
