Zelensky states assembly with Trump could help end war with Russia
(MENAFN) Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that Kyiv has completed preparations for his upcoming meeting with US President Donald Trump, emphasizing that the discussions will cover both military and economic matters aimed at bringing the conflict with Russia closer to a resolution.
“We have already prepared our part of the homework ahead of the (Oct. 17) meeting with President Trump – both the military component and the economic one. Every detail, everything is ready. The agenda of our meeting with the president of the United States is very substantive,” Zelenskyy said during his evening address.
He expressed appreciation for those involved in organizing the talks, stating that the discussions “can truly bring the war closer to an end. It is the United States that can wield this kind of global influence, and we are doing everything to ensure that others around the world stand on our side in this effort.”
Zelenskyy added that a Ukrainian delegation—including the prime minister, the head of the presidential office, and other senior officials—is already in Washington to lay the groundwork for the meeting and engage with US defense and energy companies.
He also highlighted Ukraine’s efforts to advance the Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List (PURL) initiative with partners in Central, Southern, and Northern Europe, aimed at jointly acquiring American military equipment.
The president expressed gratitude to the UK for imposing new sanctions on Russia’s largest oil companies and to Greece for its continued support, noting that energy cooperation and resilience measures were discussed during his call with Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
